NEW !  Aboundi Products - 'ELECTRIC CONNECT' - Ethernet over existing wiring

Have you ever had an application where:

Installing Ethernet Cable was difficult or expensive and the alternative of using Wireless was too slow and with random drops in coverage ?

There is a NEW Patented Solution which can run Ethernet communications speeds up to 100 Mbps over conventional Power, Telephone, Serial or Coaxial Wires at a distance up to 1,000 ft.

Aboundi 'ELECTRIC CONNECT" Facts and Questions

Q:  What is Electric Connect Networking?

The user can use Electric Connect Networking components to construct a network quickly using existing power wiring. Aboundi NetBridge adapters allow multiple computers, HMIs and I/O to be easily networked through multiple AC power outlets.

Q:  Is Electric Connect networking proven?

Yes. PowerLine Communication technology has been fully implemented in silicon and tested in the field across North America, Europe and Asia.

Q:  What is EoP?

EoP is Ethernet over Power wiring. Unlike PoE, power over an ethernet cable, which has limited power available, EoP has no limitations on the amount of amperage over the power wiring. The ethernet signal is carried by the power wiring and if a common power supply is used for all of the remote ethernet I/O, there is no need for ethernet cabling. Simply place an APL-1100 at each I/O block and connect with an RJ45 cable. One additional APL-1100 would be needed to feed the power wiring at the power supply. This APL-100 would then connect to the control network via an RJ45 cable.

Q:  How many nodes can we have in an Electric Connect network segment?

Typically, you can have 16 NetBridge adapters in a PowerLine network segment for each network segment name assigned.

Q:  Can I Combine Wireless Devices with Electric Connect?

Yes.

Q:  Can I use the Aboundi NetBridge in the Europe as well?

Yes, Aboundi manufactures products for these markets such as Europe, USA, and Asia.

Q:  Is the Electric Connect network secure?

Aboundi uses the 56 bits DES (85M) and 168-bit Tri-DES (200M) encryption code which makes sure that your network and your data are highly secure and are not shared by unwanted intruders.

Q:  What is the benefit of Electric Connect?

You can create the network without deploying new wires in a rapid and dynamic way.

Q:  Can I plug a NetBridge adapter into a power line extention cord?

Yes, but that may reduce the communication signal.

Q:  My Network works, but slow?

Do not plug the device into a power strip or surge protector because these devices may consist of a filter and impair the signal. Also avoid plugging the device right next to noisy sources such as cell phone chargers, Halogen lights, noisy desktop computers, vacuum cleaners, etc. Both cases result in poor transmission speed.

Q:  What is the maximum distance of two devices in an Electric Connect Network?

We recommend using distances up to 300 meters. Under ideal conditions it is possible to reach longer distances. This depends on the type of cable and the quality of the splices.

Q:  I cannot connect to other computers on my network or to the Internet.

(1)Make sure the IP address and TCP/IP protocol are set up correctly for all the powerline networked computers.

(2)Make sure the Network IDs are the same.

Q:  What power wires are in single phase, two phase and 3 phase ?

Single phase - one 110VAC and one neutral

Two phase - two 110VAC

Three phase - three 440VAC

Q:  What AC outlets can be used ?

In North America, the AC outlet that has a two prong receptacle with a ground pin receptacle.

Q:  Can the units bridge a transformer ?

No, the units operate on the secondary side of a transformer.

Q:  Can the units operate over any twisted pair of wires ?

Yes, the quality of the wire and splices will determine the performance of the network.

Q:  How can I 'bridge' the 2 110VAC lines at my breaker panel ?

Connect an APLxxxx to an outlet of each 'phase' ( hopefully they are in the same room ) and use an RJ45 CAT5 cable to bridge between the APLxxx units on the different phases. This puts the carrier on each 110VAC line in the breaker panel.

Aboundi 'ELECTRIC CONNECT' Industrial Ethernet Netbridge Questions

Q:  Can it work over my existing Fieldbus wiring as I migrate to Ethernet ?

Yes, It works over Devicenet, Profibus, Genius I/O, Modbus Plus - any existing wiring.

Q:  How fast is it ?

Speed is determined by the quality of the wiring and distance

Q:  Can I use it over my Devicenet wiring as I migrate to Ethernet from Devicenet ?

Devicenet uses 2 pair of wiress - 2 for Data and 2 for Power - Electric Connect runs over the Power pair.
